The speaker performed as I anticipated.The sound is solid and no distortion when volume is turned up high.The speaker case is well made with a nice black finish.Would like a choice of black or white finish.

These are certainly -not- audiophile caliber speakers IMHO. While you can't beat them for the money (about $150/pair new online right now), they are certainly not in the same league as recent creations from the likes of B&W, Energy, NHT, Epos, Paradigm, Wharfedale, etc...
They run a little bright and the sound is not terribly refined although they are certainly listenable. For the serious music lover I recommend going up at least one price bracket. Some used Paradigm Titans will cost you about the same and have a lot more song in them. Titan are rear ported so they could not go on a bookshelf.
These with a nice T-amp (tripath) for $50 would blow away almost any Ipod speaker system I've heard. Heck, people really into sound quality don't listen to those things anyway! Cheers!

Bought a new (under $50*) & used (under $30* - like new) Infinity Primus 152 bookshelf speaker for 13'X12' basement room w/ Harman-Kardon 3490 2-channel stereo receiver. Great speakers & inexpensive (this transaction) + prompt delivery. I'd researched bookshelf speakers for several months, finally deciding to buy (although I was nervous about it) when I saw the offer for one open-box speaker. It was in perfect condition and packed in the box as if it were new.
I appreciate the Infinity speakers' clarity and lack of distortion in music and spoken word, in contrast with sound from 1990s JBL speakers.
You should strongly consider adding these speakers for your surround or 2-channel stereo system. Although I'm not an audiophile who can tell you about highs and lows, I've listened to stereo sound for over 40 years, and this fits my needs now (I'll soon be 50) - for rock, jazz, folk, NPR, TV & movies. I might add a subwoofer, as I've become accustomed to more bass in another stereo system and home & work computers, but these speakers are fine on their own. For those assuming lack of volume, if I cranked the sound & left a window open, my neighbors would have reason to complain - and/or think my son moved back home.

I'll save you the time of looking for the perfect surround system for the money. Buy the Infinity Primus series speakers & add an Onkyo receiver, a touch of HDTV/surround & you are DONE! My system cost me about $3500, but man is it worth every cent. These speakers all have crystal-clear sound & wait 'till you hear the 300 Watt bass... WOW!
