My old cassette/CD unit died and I decided it was time to join the iPod generation. For the price this unit is fantastic! You can control the iPod with the remote control and it has all the little things I wanted in a bedside unit; CD player, good AM/FM reception with 30 pre-sets/search, sleep timer, headphone jack, front aux. input (I hook it up to the DVD player), etc. All of the controls on the remote are on the TOP of the unit, where you can actually see them. It has a sleek black finish and Sony quality. The iPod does stick out of the top so you need to be a little careful with it.
But - if you're new to ipods like me (I remember 8 track players) don't buy the package deal. The 8 MB nano is just too small. Not enough memory and when you set it down it disappears - so I got it a bright pink case. It might be good for runners but not for home/school (teacher) use. Get the black iPod classic 120, it has 15 times as much memory and isn't that much more expensive. With the classic you would actually have enough memory left for some photos of the grandkids. I was surprised to discover how little the 8mg nano held, I had to leave out a lot of good albums.
Also get some kind of manual, I got "iPod, The Missing Manual" for two bucks. It's a little out of date (2007) but iTunes and the basic iPod hasn't changed that much. It's very helpful for those of us old enough to remember when transister radios first came out. The hardest part is learning iTunes, but the book helps with that too.
Now if I can just figure out how to get my cassette tapes in the iPod - and how to hook it up to my home stereo - I'll be set!

Love the look of this system, even though as other reviewers have noted, the speakers are a little cheaply constructed (but for the price what do you expect). But what's most disappointing is how unreliable the Ipod dock system is. Everytime i go to Ipod mode, i have the fiddle with the Ipod to make a good connection. Once the connection is set, it's not a problem. But not convenient when you want to transition from radio to Ipod and need to walk over and fiddle with the connection to make it go. BTW, when the connection is good, the Ipod does get charged thru the system.

Good sound, has all the features I was looking for in a micro system: ipod, am/fm, cd, etc. Very satisfied with this purchase!

The delivery service and product arrival was great, very fast and on perfect conditions.
As a product review it has a very good sound quality, the remote has buttons for configuring all so it's very practical and has a wide range of signal.
Also useful as an iPod charger what is great to keep music going on all time.
The only detail I can see is that, when the iPod is connected, you can't see the song name on the micro system display.
Would be nice to have this feature but definitely I would recommend this one because of the functionality, quality and clean design.

My pool staff uses this, we made a weather resistant box outside for the speakers, main unit in the pass office. Works great, loud enough to give background music in the pool area without being too loud. Staff loves the I pod dock. I lasted the summer with a lot of staff members and sunscreen touching it.
