I have purchased both models and have found them both to have similar issues with reading discs. Periodically, the unit will not read discs and fidgeting with the system by resetting factory presets, unplugging and replugging the unit sometimes clears the problem. Don't know if it is a dirty laser pickup or not but unit is in a clean environment and only a little over a year old. Unit will scan through 3-multidisc trays, and give a NO DISK message for each tray even though playable discs are in the unit.

It has been about 13 months since I bought it. Initially, it gave me "No Disk" error for MP3 CDs. I didn't care much since normal CDs played without issues. Now, it doesn't play even normal CDs and gives a "No Disk" error. I am clueless as to what I can do. This is really bad workmanship by Sony. I bought the brand because I trusted it a lot.

Excellent stereo. This was the second one I purchased, one for home and one for work.

For the money it is a great system, not real pleased with the looks of the speakers, but the sound is great. It takes a while to figure out how to use the remote to change stations, but the remote is handy. Would not hesitate to recommend the system. The system arrived sooner than Amazon said it would.

I bought this system to replace an older Sony system I had. I really preferred the design of the older system. This sits by my bed and I use it only to play audiobooks and I prefer to operate it manually. Too many functions require the remote and I didn't care for that.
Also the clock does not show continually like my old unit did and I prefer a top opening CD player. I don't like drawer openers as I feel they go bad under heavy use. I don't need a changer. However, the smaller units lacked all the functionality I needed -- esp. a sleep timer and clock display and equilizer.
It seems to play OK but as I say I found it way too big and clumsy and I am sorry I bought it. I hope I get used to it in time.
